Northern Outdoors is one of the largest rafting companies in Maine, located in The Forks and Millinocket. This website was a design and development project co-created with the Northern Outdoors marking manager, Emily Yearwood. This large site was designed to be responsive, improve SEO, and be user friendly. This business is multifaceted and has two locations in remote areas of Maine. Therefore there were many challenges to display a large amount of information about lodging, activities, and dining to guests traveling from near and far.
We integrated two social media accounts for Northern Outdoors and the Kennebec River Brewery (FB, Instagram, Twitter), as well as, a e-news campaign using Mailchimp. I also took over the social media and digital marking responsibilities for four months in 2021 while Northern’s marketing manager was on maternity leave. This was a great experience to work on an account with a large following on multiple accounts. Northern Outdoors uses social media and e-mail campaigns to give their customers up-to-date information, which has been so important during the COVID-19 pandemic, to keep travelers informed of the ever changing state and federal requirements.
The site is also integrates with custom build plugins to connect to Northern’s lodging and activity reservation system. I also had the opportunity create layout designs for retail items, menus and a digital & print ads.
